Find your place in space with ESA’s new online course Space for Everyone

26/10/2026

ESA Education has launched Space for Everyone, a new 100% online course inviting people from a wide variety of backgrounds to explore the space sector. Free and open to everyone, with no prior knowledge needed, it aims to help learners discover how their own skills and interests could connect to space.

The Astronomy section explores several topics, including black holes

Whether you are considering future studies, already established in a career, or simply curious about space, there is plenty to explore. The course welcomes learners of different ages, experience and knowledge levels, offering an introduction to the many disciplines that make space activities possible.

The space sector depends on a remarkable variety of expertise. Engineering is an important part of the picture, alongside fields such as law, business and life sciences. By introducing both technical and non-technical disciplines, Space for Everyone encourages learners to look more closely at the sector, including areas you may never have considered before.

An interactive experience introduces the modular structure of Ariane 6

The course brings these topics together through modules covering Astronomy, Space Engineering, Space Law and Society, Applications of space activities to services on Earth, Space Business, Life Sciences and much more. It also includes The Story of Space: Motivations and Impacts, which delves into why we explore and use space, what we can learn from space missions, and how space research and technology shape our daily lives.

Along the way, learners can freely choose the fields they want to explore and the modules they want to navigate. The content draws on expertise from specialists working across ESA and the wider space sector. Through this broad introduction, learners are encouraged to recognise connections between different disciplines and consider which areas they would like to explore further. An interest in biology, business, or the relationship between technology and society could become the starting point for discovering a new aspect of space exploration.

Interactive sections allow learners to explore selected topics in greater depth

Delivered entirely online, the course’s self-paced format allows you to fit learning around work, studies, and other commitments. A certificate is awarded after completion.

Space for Everyone aims to inspire curiosity and encourage people to take their interest in space further. Whether that means discovering a new subject, uncovering possible career connections or understanding more about the technologies we use every day, the course offers a place for everyone to explore.
